About El Cajon
El Cajon ( el kə-HOHN, American Spanish: [el kaˈxon]; Spanish: El Cajón, meaning "the box") is a city in San Diego County, California, United States, 17 mi (27 km) east of downtown San Diego. The city takes its name from Rancho El Cajón, which was named for the box-like shape of the valley that surrounds the city, and the origin of the city's common nickname "the Box". == Name == El Cajón, Spanish for "the box", was first recorded on September 10, 1821, as an alternative name for sitio rancho Santa Mónica to describe the "boxed-in" nature of the valley in which it sat. The name appeared on maps in 1873 and 1875, shortened to "Cajon", until the modern town developed, in which the post office was named "El Cajon". In 1905, the name was once again expanded to "El Cajon" under the insistence of California banker and historian Zoeth Skinner Eldredge.

When our AC started dying last August (2020) I contacted several companies for repair estimates, all said the system was terminal and that it needed to be replaced but it managed to make it through the summer. In February I decided to get the system replaced before summer hit. I got several estimates and also called Blue Diamond because I remembered Brian from when he came out for the repair estimate. Brian was very easy to deal with and he took the time to discuss all my options, unlike some of the others that I felt were pressuring me to make an immediate decision. Brian’s estimate was spot on and we decided on a Bosch system. Installation was a breeze, Brandon & Justin did a great job and all my special requests were accommodated without question, awesome work. When I had trouble figuring out how to use the wifi thermostat Donavan came over on his Saturday day off (sorry your brisket burned) and helped me sort out the problem. I’m writing this during the first heatwave of the summer and the system is performing awesome, so quiet and efficient. All in all top notch service from Blue Diamond!
We had a failure of our AC unit at the warmest time of year. After calling around, Brian was able to get out in a timely fashion. We received a text before his arrival, he arrived on time, checked out our system, gave me a complete description of what was wrong (including photos), and notified me that parts are available and he could complete our repair the next day. He arrived as planned on day two, got the work done, turned the system on and the total due was exactly what he had quoted for the repair. I requested information on upgrading thermostats. He sent me an estimate before leaving our location and I have already approved the additional work. Brian took the extra time to discuss a problem that has not been resolved by another company on my home HVAC system and made recommendations as to how I should proceed as well as discussing a problem with another employee on her home system. I feel confident that Blue Diamond will be handling my HVAC needs for many years to come.
